Open webinar: Development of a Postgis database for a geospatial Django web application
Development of geospatial web frameworks was always from our interest and we were always on the search for efficient tools for data management / data representation and that means a research of a set of web frameworks, databases, standards, computer configuration and others. We have developed a webinar that covers an applied case of a Postgis database implementation of the Africa rivers and basins that is implemented under a Django application. The webinar cover the following topics: - Installation of Postgis under Ubuntu using WSL - Creation of a geodatabase with user and check connection parameters - Edit databases, installed apps and others inside “settingsp.py” - Define models for multilinestrings and multipolygons - Make migrations and migrate - Insert geospatial data to the database under jupyterlab - Check the uploaded data on the postgres shell - Enable the models for Django admin - Run the server
Intructor / Instructor:
Saul Montoya M.Sc
Hydrogeologist - Numerical Modeler
Mr. Montoya is a Civil Engineer graduated from the Catholic University in Lima with postgraduate studies in Management and Engineering of Water Resources (WAREM Program) from Stuttgart University – Germany with mention in Groundwater Engineering and Hydroinformatics. Mr Montoya has a strong analytical capacity for the interpretation, conceptualization and modeling of the surface and underground water cycle and their interaction. He is in charge of numerical modeling for contaminant transport and remediation systems of contaminated sites. Inside his hydrological and hydrogeological investigations Mr. Montoya has developed an holistic comprehension of the water cycle, understanding and quantifying the main hydrological dynamic process of precipitation, runoff, evaporation and recharge to the groundwater system.
